better not just cut a hole and put some soil in it.
The moisture will wick through that book like crazy and mildew. You can cut the hole and then place a pot in the hole. You will need something below it for drainage or your table will be ruined.

Awesome! Esp. the staggered one with the tree in it. And the whinners would hate what I have lined up for some old mesed up books. Weding confetti and birthday confetti and paper roses after that. Old books deserve to be used for something pleasent not stuffed on a shelf or in the dead book room in a libary where no one ever sees the again!

I too recoil in horror at the thought of ruining books that someone would treasure...however there is one simple solution to this. READERS DIGEST BOOKS! These abominations look old school enough to be pretty but are such monstrosities of twisted literature it is almost a joy to destroy them with craft ;D

I love this idea and shall be trying it!

They look pretty, but surely they'd leak water all over the place when you gave your plants a drink? And they'd go all foosty and mouldy pretty quickly too. Better to decorate a planter box to look like a book and sell or donate your unwanted books to others.

Most libraries prefer cash donations, not donations of books. Our library, for example, puts donated books in a used book shop on the library grounds. They then use the money to upgrade our facilities or buy new books. Think of how many copies of bestsellers libraries would have if they accepted every donated book. The money is better spent on a book not currently in circulation.

He paid for the books, he can do what he likes with them! How is it different to do this with a novel than with a Windows book, or a couch cushion?

I think it's a great idea.

All...all these books ruined! I understand the Windows 5 book, but the rest of these books are MURDER! You've killed them you sir, are no gentleman and scholar, but a destroyer of books and MINDS! If you don't use books for heat when you have firewood beside you, why would you do this?
