Transforming Your Old Books into Unique Planters

Have you had problems with placing old massive books which are not cool enough to keep them in your shelves and still you wouldn’t like to drop them in garbage? For example, I have a few of really massive books about ‘Windows 5′ secrets and I know that I will never use that book again, yet, I am not ready to dump it in garbage.

The idea about transforming your books into a planter should be cool enough. All you need to do is to find some tool (I think it is possible to do it with ordinary knife) to cut in a hole in the middle of your fat book and to place some soil in it. Now you only need a decent plant to make little garden in your book. For those who like bonsai trees, this could be perfect idea. And I am sure your friends are going to be pretty curious about your weird book-planters :)

All…all these books ruined! I understand the Windows 5 book, but the rest of these books are MURDER! You’ve killed them you sir, are no gentleman and scholar, but a destroyer of books and MINDS! If you don’t use books for heat when you have firewood beside you, why would you do this?

He paid for the books, he can do what he likes with them! How is it different to do this with a novel than with a Windows book, or a couch cushion?

      I think it’s a great idea.

Oh, whatever, you pseudo-intellect. I too think it’s a great idea, and can’t wait to make some of my own. I hope to see more ideas!

Its is really a murder!!! how about donating the books to a library ?? u don’t have to carve out its insides and plant a tree in it!! horrible :’(

Most libraries prefer cash donations, not donations of books. Our library, for example, puts donated books in a used book shop on the library grounds. They then use the money to upgrade our facilities or buy new books. Think of how many copies of bestsellers libraries would have if they accepted every donated book. The money is better spent on a book not currently in circulation.
